This is still one of the best values and dining experiences around. The food is consistently good and the help is always polite and efficient. The place is incredibly clean. On Saturdays they normally have live music but not during the Covid closure. I used to perform there with my 3 piece band. I haven't since I've gone solo.

Illinois' oldest tavern! Neat decor, good atmosphere, probably the best chicken quesadilla I've ever had, and some really great fries as well! They had a few different local brews on draft too! There's a bar section and a restaurant section to keep the crowds separated. They even had a few gambling machines in between. And a few ATMs inside also. Overall this place was really nice!

I love the village tavern! My favorite is the fish fry. This place makes my favorite fish fry. The draft beer is good too, goes well with it. The french onion soup isn't always available but I enjoy it when it is.

Food was good. Fish fry was yummy, but broasted chicken was better. I'd go back for the chicken next time..

A real gem. The staff were helpful and friendly. The decor is cozy. I especially appreciated that they seat families with children in the dining room and leave the tables in the bar for the grown ups. I real find in this area that's a real pleasure. The food came out hot and flavorful. The cheeseburger was cooked perfectly. Added thinly sliced red onion, which they speedily brought out as it was an afterthought when we first ordered. The fish was flakey and juicy and the breading was crispy. The French fries are perfect in my opinion, a cross between steak fries and shoestrings. The bartender filled us in on the history of the place and told us about the AYCE options of Broasted chicken and fish, check the schedule for the days. Will definitely be back.
