Visited here today and inquired about gluten free options was told yes we do gf fish anytime was delicious, best I've ever had. My husband had normal fish and chips and he agreed that they were lovely and he is very hard to please. The queue outside after 15 minutes of opening was a testament to how good they are. You may want to get there early or place an order in advance to avoid a long wait. However the wait would be worth it.
Yesterday evening was truly a special moment. I just had a long day fishing and discovered this place by pure chance. I take my fish and chips very seriously with it being my favourite dish and this is by far the best I’ve ever tried. The batter was crunchy and the fresh fish was incredible - just the right contrast between the two batter/fish. The chips were delicious too. The food wasn’t the only thing great about this place, it was the people that made it. I not only witnessed one act of kindness but two and all by the same lovely lady at the fish and chips shop. First with me, giving me some left over chicken for free (making my day) but also these two young girls that I observed riding up on their bikes to discover the shop was closed. The lady saw the disappointment on their faces and as they cycled away, she called them back and gave them each a portion of chips for their dinner. She didn’t just make my day but she made these girls day too. There needs to be more people in the world like the fish and chips shop lady. I will certainly come back again. An extremely good experience.

Last night we had a trip down to the seaside and came across The Varne Fish Bar. It was well worth the wait. The chips, cooked in beef dripping were amazing and the rock was so tasty. Both cooked to perfection. Best fish and chips we have eaten . We will definitely go back.
