Great place to sit if you want to wear your coat hat and gloves for a pint. Heating not on, when mentioned the girl behind the bar said she didn't know how to do it. Was 4 degrees outside last night when we decided to support one of our local pubs that had reopened. We asked what the two ales were on tap just to get a blank look. Please go to the Fox at Carlton or the Pheasant in Wellington Shropshire to see how a pub should be run. Very disappointed. Lovely beer but unfortunately got tainted by the smell of air freshener being blasted around - we were the only two people who walked in apart from a couple who walked in 20 mins later and didn't take their hats or coats off either. Month before Xmas and all there was was a fire lit we were practically sitting on it. It's hard for any country pub to keep going, things like this make it harder.

We stopped off here on the way to Birmingham and we are so glad we did. Lovely atmosphere, excellent food and a cosy fire, what more could you want for a Friday evening! Oh, and the rhubarb gin and ginger ale was a match made in heaven.

Decor very nice. We went in lunch time New Years Day and were the only 2 in there! Did not stop for lunch (they also advertise breakfasts). The menu is very basic pub grub and at a tenner for a main course , a tenner may seem high to some.

Just WOW Having been told that The Owner was now there and was also the Chef, I decided to give it one last try - what a surprise Sunday Roast was awesome - and what a great price 2 for 15 at the moment- the desserts were lush, couldn't fault it - Will be returning very soon
