Would loved to have left a great review and I’m sure I would have, had I not driven 1.5 hours to Petworth to meet friends for lunch based on the reviews, to find they were not serving food. We had tried calling ahead last week quite a few times for a table but the phone was never answered. We figured they were busy. Shame the website hadn’t been updated to inform people of no food - not everybody is local and would know.

Fabulous pies and the best pint of Guinness outside of Dublin!! A great atmosphere with attentive staff, well worth the visit.
After a morning spent walking around Petworth House nearby, and perusing the local book sale that was happening in the town hall, we picked The Star purely based on it being the first place we saw. It turned out to be a great pub with a varied menu and warming atmosphere.
Ok and friendly but obviously struggling with the current situation around covid. Hope trade picks up as a nice pub.
Nice pub and a banging cup of tea, although you probably only need one pot between two.
