Not welcoming, poor service and awefull food! The location is great , in the middle of the high street and the pub was generally in good decorative order for it's age and clean. Admittedly it wasn't an expensive menu but my partner had a piece of breaded cod that was straight out of the frozen section of a supermarket! I had the scampi which was pretty much as I expected it to be other than both meals being overcooked!! I've been to many a transport cafe offering better quality food (and a less boring menu). Not recommended.

Popped in for a light lunch. Was provided with a standard menu, but upon enquiring as to items listed, was informed that most of the dishes were not available due to Covid and staff restrictions within the kitchen. We opted for two of the Vegetarian Quiche, with chips and peas. The food, once served, was appalling. The quiche was burnt and had a most peculiar taste and texture - similar to sweating cheese. The peas were clearly frozen and were dry and bland, as were the chips. Burnt, dry, bland and quite simply the worst I had ever eaten. I can only assume that everything had been prepared earlier and then reheated in a microwave. Yes, the meals are reasonable when it comes to price, but PLEASE AVOID eating here. It's simply dreadful. If we had seen the other ratings listed on the Internet, we would have avoided this place and waited until we had walked along the sea wall. Here, there are much nicer establishments with similarly priced menu's and no cuts to what is on offer!

Friendly staff, covid safe, and dog friendly. Awful food. 12.50 for a shell of tasteless crab with half a finish cooking at home baguette, undressed iceberg, toms, and cucumber, purple slaw, and tasteless rice with peas and corn? 8.50 for a bit of cheddar and pot of chutney treated the same. Never eating here again, but will come back for a drink in the sun.

It's a nice pub with good covid measures but the ploughmans is more like a salad, it was served with a slice of orange and rice peas what is that about, where is the pickle, apple, pork pie, egg or any that you would normally expect.
