visited a while back and had some haggis fritters which were lovely, bartenders were very nice and prices for drinks were perfectly reasonable.

Visited last Wednesday and had haggis fritters with red onion marmalade, then gorgeous beer-battered fish with chips and peas. The fish was cooked to perfection. One of the best places in Edinburgh to get cracking good fish and chips in a lovely country pub with superb, friendly staff. Lovely cosy traditional decor too. So nice to see this place continue as it always has been with history and character and not be ruined like some pubs have been with unnecessary refurbishment. Nestled in beautiful grounds you can freely walk around, and even stay over in the lovely, charming caravan park down the road, there is the historic Mortonhall House across from the courtyard and old stables where this pub is situated. Recommended.
A dog friendly restaurant. There were at least 4 in when we were eating. A group of three dogs noisy if another dog was near but since we weren't too near them it didn't annoy us. Food is just fine. Service was efficient with pleasant staff. If I/ we lived nearer I/ we would return. A mid week February visit so relatively quiet, although surprised as there were many cars parked.
Brilliant service and fantastic food as always and felt very self with good precautions in place for staff and visitors. Will definitely be back! Easy to book a table by phone too.
Lovely food. I normally find when I go to a restaurant and order a mac&cheese that the portion is quite small. I ordered the large here and was not dissapointed. Fab about of cheese as well!
