During our visit to DC we stumbled upon this restaurant after the one we made reservations at decided to be closed and not tell us. We enjoyed the food and experience so much we even went back twice during our visit. The food is excellent. Everything came as ordered, but it blew the standard out of the water. The pasta was arguably some of the best I’ve ever had. The burger had so many amazing flavors that came together in an excellent way. We got a grilled cheese for our child, and even that was so good, Mom and Dad may have picked at it when he wasn’t looking. They were very aware of safety and everyone that worked there ensured that guests and employees were safe. The COVID protocols were well thought out and executed. I even watched some guests be harassed by a passerby, the employee handled it with class and respect towards all involved. As a parent, finding changing tables in Men’s restrooms seems to be a challenge. Not only did they have one, but it was nice and very clean. I highly recommend this restaurant!

I have no complaints about the food here at all it was great. I ordered the avocado toast and the eggs Benedict, which both come with a free Mamosa or Bellini during brunch! The plate sizes are a good portion, and the venue is magnificent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a casual date or just for the ambience. The prices may add up quick however, I think it’s slightly worth it. Street parking only so you have to pay the meter. Also great location because it’s next to the national mall and other touristy sites.
Came here on a Saturday night for a nice meal and was pretty disappointed. Our server was awful— took at least 10 minutes to greet us and then another 10 minutes to bring our drinks to the table, one of which was wrong. When we told our server our drink was wrong, she proceeded to tell us we were wrong and it was the correct drink (it wasn’t, it was spicy AF and he ordered something that was supposed to be sweet and tangerine flavored). She didn’t offer to correct it. Shishito pepper app was fine but not great— peppers were barely seared so it was like eating a raw pepper. Ordered medium rare steaks and they were VERY rare but we ate them. For 40 steaks this was disappointing. Our server didn’t come to our table once during our meal— we had to ask a busser for assistance. Would have liked to order more drinks and would have definitely ordered dessert but by the end of the meal we just wanted to leave. When we asked for the check she brought that back immediately. Bad service but when it’s time to pay she finally showed up. Two stars because the salad and fries were very good but honestly, save your money and go somewhere else.
Confirmed, best mac and cheese in the city! Love The Smith, it never disappoints. This time I got the lunch Prix Fixe, and everything was great. Of note though was the Cheesecake in a Jar, let me tell you... heaven. I had to fight myself to enjoy it slowly instead of inhaling it. Still a fan!
They have a small menu for dinner, my daughter asked for the grilled chicken and we were told they didn't have it, then my daughter asked for the fried calamari and again they did not have it. This was frustrating since it was already a small menu with limited options. Therefore my daughter just tried the cauliflower which was good. I ordered the smith burger well done. As you can see, it had pink in it. Therefore this combined with the food choices being unavailable was disappointing for us and we will not be returning.
