Visited the Ship for the first time and had a lovely afternoon. Had a delicious T Bone steak that was so much more than standard pub grub. Honestly one of the best steaks I’ve eaten. The garlic prawns starter is also excellent. We were really well looked after on our visit and will definitely be back.

Lovely food, one of the best roasts I had. The service was good and attentive and all felt very safe Covid-wise

Really friendly new management team. Great wines, the rose are Malbec were fantastic. New owners seems genuine and friendly. Okay, we only had chips, which were really tasty, but the new menu looks fantastic - we will be back. Nice interior, great experience. Could be one of Stock's hidden gems.

Staff are nice enough. The pub went through a refurb which is very nice. The refurb doesn’t appear to have stretched to a fly killer though. Every time I have been in there, which is about once a week, there are loads of flies. Recently visited, two flies climbing behind the bar, five flies zig-zagging in the main customer area. They have recently put a net over the entrance door but it clearly isn’t working. I just can’t eat in a place where flies land on your food. The website says that it serves food until 8.30pm but they regularly shut the restaurant before. I went in this week at 8.10pm, it was quite busy, but I was told the restaurant was closed. The chef was drinking on the picnic chairs out the front. He works hard for a living and deserves to relax of course so I am not criticising him. Perhaps they should amend the website if the kitchen closes at 8pm. It is a shame, buy a decent fly exterminator and ensure the kitchen stays open as advertised and this would be a lovely pub.
