We had a meal here today for a wake and the service was excellent. They catered to our needs and the food was brilliant, nothing was an issue. Definitely worth the money

Unfortunately a really poor experience here today and due to the lack of resolving from the staff, I am leaving this review. This pub was one of our favourites and we have food here multiple times and it has been lovely. Their other chef is amazing. However after having the roast dinner here today, it was incredibly disappointing. The food consisted of packet veg mixed together, a few soggy roast potatoes, beef and a Yorkshire. After being asked if it was okay, I had said we were really disappointed with the quality. The comment was quickly dismissed. However when finding out that each meal was just under 15 quid each, we hadn’t been told the prices, I had said to staff that it wasn’t on - what was paid for such poor quality food. I’d expect better at whetherspoons. All three staff members were there and very dismissive with “the comments have been passed onto the chef”. The chef by the way who was the BOSS. Someone who should have been eager to sort the situation. I had made it clear I wasn’t happy and had explained why however it was clear no one wanted to resolve it or chat about it. Unfortunately you have lost our customs and we won’t be coming back. I’ve worked in hospitality a long time, managing bars and restaurants, and that was not the way to deal with it. Just very disappointed with the company overall.
Easy parking, well spaced tables, dog friendly. My pie was excellent, but friends who had lamb shoulder and fishcakes, thought theirs were small. Eg fishcakes, though 2 served, of a reasonable size, came with virtually nothing else. Also have to say it was good as half price day, so food cheap but annoyed as they did not apply the discount to our soft drinks as they should have under the government scheme.
Good food, excellent real ale (HSB), service that's attentive without being annoying, unobtrusive music, good decor. Rather quiet on the June Wednesday evening when we visited.
