Another excellent night spent drinking in the Royal Oak. Two very good, and locally brewed real ales to choose from.
Wonderful house but the cafe.... The house was so beautiful and well maintained as are the grounds.The person who took our tickets was both knowledgeable and pleasant. We arrived before the house opened and it was recommended by the local Tourist Board that we go to the cafe for a cup of coffee. We walked in at 10 and was told by a woman that it was closed until 12 due to staff shortages. When we turned to leave, it appeared that there was a staff meeting taking place with all the participants drinking coffee. To make matters worse, the woman was then seen walking her dog around the grounds. Disappointed at this lack of an amenity and the fact that no one cared enough to get replacement staff let the whole experience down
Nice old boozer and just out style.
Step back in time. Lovely pub, good choice of drinks, quiz night too.
