Ate at 'The Nook' in the Royal Oak, a small dining room adjacent to the main bar. Was pleasantly surprised by the beer available as in addition to the ghastly Greene King Abbot Ale ditch water they had the consistently excellent Titanic Plum Porter, and it was in decent nick. Gargled down a few of them, no problem at all. Staff were helpful and friendly and the place had a nice atmosphere. I found the food somewhat disappointing however. Bland, stodgy and greasy - wouldn't rush back here to eat.

Newly refurbished and reopened under new management. Malc and his team are friendly and welcoming of regulars, locals and those from the wider community. Screens all around so you can easily find a spot to watch the match. The beer garden still being developed, as the outbuildings are being took down or rebuilt. However, this doesn't detract from it still being a lovely space to sit and chill with picnic benches and umbrellas. In the good weather there is a bouncy castle for the kids and some toys in the garden to keep them occupied. Dogs are welcome in the pub and garden, but must be kept on a lead. Not tried the food yet, but heard it is lovely and recently seen they've got a new chef. Will update review when we've had food.
