We stopped here on the way back from a lovely evening in York and it completed our trip. Friendly welcoming from all staff,the food was amazing and social distancing in place with accordance to government guidelines. Five stars from us
Just been for lunch, we had the steak and ale pie. It was excellent. Also the staff were very welcoming and service excellent. Couldn't say a bad word about it. Lynn and Neil.
We had fish and chips and salmon. The salmon was lovely, I probably should have ordered a side to go with it. The fish and chips were lovely and fresh but would have liked a bigger portion of chips. Desert was a bit over facing but enjoyed. Service was good as it was quiet but the staff were smiley and helpful. We would visit again.
Having heard really good things about the Rockingham Arms I went for Sunday lunch with some friends today and 4 of us ordered the beef Sunday roast dinner. The meat, Yorkshire pud, gravy and potatoes were lovely but very disappointed to be brought one dish of veg between 4 of us consisting of some sugar snap peas, shredded white cabbage and a few slices of carrot. It was as though they'd run out of veg and thrown together what they had left in the kitchen. For 12.95 I don't think it's too much to hope for some hearty veg such as roasted parsnips, proper carrots, broccoli, cauliflower cheese, something green? Bit disappointed to be honest especially for the price. Thankfully the sticky toffee pudding was really good. Service was also fab.
