Lovely location. Incredibly helpful, friendly staff. When asked about a walk through the woods the lovely young lady went off to find info for us. 5 stars just for the young lady behind the till who takes orders with a smile.

Although closed when we went, we have been here before and is an excellent place for a pint/glass of wine and food. Stoke Gabriel is a lovely village.
Beautiful scenery, friendly, welcoming and caring staff, absolutely delicious food offering, great quality and local ingredients. Stunning walks from here, well worth a visit. Thank you for making this place so memorable.
Lovely place, very tranquil, the 1000 year old yew tree in the grave yard is definitely worth a visit after a little walk along the lake at the 4th concrete stump u go up some steps into an orchard and then into the grave yard follow the path round the church and the tree is there. You will find instructions to walk round the tree backwards 7 times without stumbling and then u can makes a wish. There are other walks you can go on and you can also go crabbing here. Once you have had all the fresh air and taken everything in there is a nice little cafe that serves food and beverages, parking is 5 whether you stay for an hr or all day.
Hello just had an amazing stay in Stoke Gabriel & wanted to let people know about The River Shack. Absolutely gorgeous restaurant. This comes with a big thank you to Will the manager & his team. We had many hot drinks (latte to die for) cake(especially coffee cake, delicious) I believe made locally. On the Friday night we had a new dish plaice baked in fennel, sautéed kale & new potatoes cooked in butter & garlic, the fish was probably the best I have ever had- melt in the mouth. We followed this with white chocolate cheesecake & plum/blackberry crumble with clotted cream, lush. We finished with the cheeseboard very, very good cheeses & another latte. Prosecco was chilled to perfection. Gracie attended our table, lovely girl, very thorough, smiley & knew all about our dishes we ordered. Will was very attentive as he had been the whole week. Also would like to thank Char, Meg & Amy for delicious food. Should add here very competitive prices, great value. In times like these, we were made to feel so comfortable & at ease with the social restrictions in place. YOU MUST VISIT WILL & HIS STAFF AT THE RIVER SHACK. .
