we enjoyed a very pleasant dinner here: food was great (especially the steak and ale pie), service was friendly and attentive, and ambience perfect to enjoy someone's company without having to shout. booking essential.

Look a great destination on either the circular or return walk from Yarmouth. There is a Sunday menu. Social distancing does work. A range of beers. As to food offering, sorry to say that the substitute for cod was a little parsimonious having regard to the difference in price between it and lamb rump. Vegetables were well put together and we could have as an extra carrots and broccoli. When asked a teapot of hot water was provided to lengthen the peppermint teas...with homemade shortbread..excellent. Yes it was a Bank Holiday week-end..so perhaps 4 is mean but 4.5 nearer Mark. Been before and not doubt will go again. They seem to have enough custom for a decent chef. Long may it continue.
Friendly staff, Great food. Chicken liver pate is amazing. As is their beer battered black pudding. Highly recommend
Fish and chips was yummy, with crispy batter and fresh cod that actually tasted like cod - and the 'small' portion was actually enough. All in our lunch party enjoyed their food, and the staff were lovely and very, very accommodating. They also clearly know how to take care of their pumps and keep the casks at the perfect temperature - that pint of Lion's Pride was delectable! All in all just can't fault this place. A great little country pub.
Great pub. Really nice food and very nice staff. Glad to see them doing well despite the lockdown conditions.
