Good, friendly service, accommodating staff. Starter was a terrine, worked rather well. The steak was a tad overdone for my tastes - I had requested blue, but it was more on the medium side of medium rare. Decent enough, despite that. I am happy beyond measure that I tried \the famous Rat sauce\ before pouring any onto the plate. It is awful in ways I can't even begin to describe. It might be OK in place of butterscotch on a pudding (it is sweet enough to cause diabetes just by being in the same room as it) but shouldn't be allowed anywhere near steak, or chips for that matter. The pudding was the redemption. The chocolate sauce was spot on, the sponge of the pudding was light and delicious. Vanilla (specifically not the menu's recommendedation of Turkish coffee flavour - why would you do that?) ice cream worked to round it off. Overall, a decent meal let down only by a truly appalling sauce and a questionable desert combination, one easily enough fixed ahead of time, the other an unknown that could only really catch you unawares. If you're thinking of going there - do. It's worthwhile to try out. But do yourself a favour and avoid the rat sauce.

Lovely pub in a quiet location. Had a 3 course evening meal there during COVID restrictions and other than the usual distancing the staff made you feel welcome like a great pub should. Food was freshbl and locally sourced and the menu changes daily...will be making the trip back again.

As a friend had been and I saw her photographs I thought it would be a good idea to pop in. We sat outside at first but tbh nobody came to serve us. We then sat inside as we had the dog we sat in a certain area. It's a lovely pub. The gardens are lovely too. We sat again and we had to ask for drinks even though its table service. We then had to ask again for a menu. The lovely young man behind the bar came to take our orders after we asked. The food was delicious but service could have been a lot better.

Fantastic location, nice views. A little disappointed with the food. Starters were amazing. But main course less than average, that is why a 3. Not lived up to expectations for a \gastro pub\. Ordered their duck dish and it was overcooked to the point it felt it was cooked the previous day. Burghers my wife and son had were OK, but nothing special either. Expected so much more for the prices they charge!
