Had a good experience with the staff at the start of the day, the barmaid was polite, we signed for the track and trace, had a few drinks there and a game of pool, then left for a meal. Once we came back we were greeted with hostility of a intoxicated landlady and man that looked like a member of staff. After we had logged on to the track and trace system and were having the drinks poured by the barmaid, the landlady was too intoxicated to acknowledge that we signed in. Said she did not like us and rudely told us to leave. Have no intention of returning after this incident. Other staff from previous visits have been friendly, inviting and more than accommodating, just not the landlady.

A well lit pub near the Chatham/Star Hill end of the high street (turn left if you're coming from Rochester train station). There's a pool table and a juke box. The bar has a selection of lagers and a couple of ales (nothing especially exciting but okay for a quick drink or two). The place is quite open plan and has a good atmosphere. It was quiet when I came in here recently but it still felt comfortable. There are some quite high tables with some, fortunately, quite high seats around the edges of the room. This does leave plenty of standing room which I'm assuming maximises the people you can get in here at the weekend. Not the best subject but worth mentioning the loos which were clean with dry floors unlike a few others on the high street.
