The Prickly Pear Bistro

Where to start? First of all our party of 5 were seated on a table meant for no more than 4, with a chair on the end of the table for the fifth person so when the food came it felt really cramped. When the food did come the service was poor and some chips were dropped on the table. One of our orders had standard chips brought out when they had ordered the \upgraded\ salt and pepper chips (which for an extra 1.50 it was disappointing when they did come and were just the standard chips with a few peppers sprinkled on the top!) At no point did any of the staff come to ask us if everything was ok with our meals and at no point did they ask us if we wanted anything else such as more drinks etc. On to the food itself, we all ordered parmos and all of us were extremely disappointed with them, the chicken was poor quality which you would expect from a take away after a night out but not in a restaurant charging the prices they do. When we were finished and had our table cleared we were not asked if we wanted a desert menu and it took 35 minutes for the staff to bring us our bill. I could see other tables having the same problem with numerous people having to get up to go to the bar to request the bill themselves. The staff tonight clearly were not interested with providing good service they were more interested in standing behind the bar in groups of 3 and 4 talking amongst themselves. Overall we feel the place is expensive for the poor quality of food on offer and the service was extremely poor. You could sort of understand the poor service if the place was jam packed but it wasn't that busy. Needless to say we won't be going back and we won't be recommending this place to anyone. Oh and the fire exit was blocked by furniture which I'm pretty sure is illegal (photograph attached)

Fantastic! Deceptively small inside but the food... WOW! I ordered an Inferno platter and for the price it was, its a while since I've been 'stuffed silly' for a competitive, agreeable price. Great staff: all smiles and very helpful. Definitely a place to return to for food! 5 stars well deserved!

Very nice, good value food - made even better value with the eat out scheme. A very wide selection of food on the menu, we went at lunchtime and could order from any of the menus. I opted for a vegetarian hot shot parmo and some halloumi sticks, it was all lovely will definitely be back

Despite there only being one other group of diners in, the food took almost 45 minutes to arrive. One of our group is gluten free and ordered from the GF menu but was still poorly the day after. When we spoke to staff about this they said that because they make parmos there is airborne flour in the kitchen so not suitable for GF diners. Staff were nice and went to check when we asked a question about the menu that they weren't sure about.

Great food, drinks and atmosphere. Somewhere we'll definitely be visiting again.
