We finished our exploration of Dungeness with a superb fish 'n' chips experience at The Pilot Inn. These guys operate like a well-oiled machine. Social distancing and hygiene measures were top-notch and, despite the enormous demand, the commutative and friendly staff seemed to keep up with it easily. Wait times were really acceptable, even on an August long weekend, and the food was plentiful and tasty. My only other observation was that I couldn't find a beer on tap that I wanted - four lagers and Guinness, as well as a range of casks, but no pale ales or IPA's on keg.

This delightful pub / restaurant situated in natural and unique coastline provides an excellent menu. The fish is the freshest ever with light crispy batter and the service felt safe and efficient. I would encourage anyone to go there in lock down and order take away fish and chips to enjoy in your car or at home the senior portions are great. Once we are safe to venture out again to dine we will be eating our meal in the old world charm of the pilots new extension as we gaze at the beach.
July 2019 I went there for a weekday lunch just before the school holidays. I’ve been here many times before, but I normally have the scampi. All the fish is sourced locally and is fresh, and you can really taste the difference! Top notch service with a smile, great views from the restaurant section and a beautiful location. Everything is reasonably priced too! I would highly recommend!!

I was in Dungeness for the weekend was recommended to visit the Pilot Inn by a colleague. The fish and chips were perfect and the medium was a huge portion. Great location on the edge of the shingle beach and a few minutes from Prospect Cottage and the lighthouse. You can see the small steam train go past from here. Dog friendly too!
