Cute little bakery with a delicious breakfast. We came here twice over the bank holiday weekend. I got a Pastie one time which was okay. But then for breakfast one morning I had porridge and a scone- delicious!! Other people in my group had the salmon and scrambled eggs or the full English breakfast. Everybody cleaned their plate! In general, the service was good with friendly staff (at least most of them).
It's always worth taking the detour over the hills and finding yourself passing through Melmerby in need of a stop. We've made the excuse to stop at the village bakery for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea and it's always the best food between the two coasts. The title of bakery is partly misleading, as it has a busy cafe but everything tastes like real food because it is!
Fabulous little spot for lunch. The food's great and the staff are wonderfully welcoming. There's even a real wood fire for when it's a bit chilly out. Pro tip: it can get massively busy in the summer, so be prepared to chill and relax if it's chocka. It's worth the wait.
Lovely little cafe / gift shop - perfect for a simple lunch, or coffee and cake. Home made food of exceptional quality beautifully presented. Excellent service. Def worth booking as only small and very popular.the boutique upstairs is also worth a look. (Lasies clothes and homewear and accessories).
