The Old Dunnings Mill

We booked without knowing the Dunnings Mill at all having had a few days away in East Grinstead & Brighton. We were happy & impressed with the lovely friendly staff, the food, the portions, the quality! Such an improvement on many places where we have eaten. We had roasts as that's what we were craving & they were GOOD!

An absolutely lovely experience! The service was great and the waitress was very friendly. They seemed to be dealing with the quarantine laws very well, with lots of hand sanitizer and a socially distanced queue. The food was very quick to come and very nice, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. It was child friendly as well, and overall just a fabulous place to eat.

Burgers and fries looked so good on social media posts but we were very disappointed by the mean portion that was served to us today. The standard house burger doesn't come with any toppings so you must order cheese, bacon and others additionally. We were asked many times how our drinks were and if we needed top-ups but never were we asked how the food was, despite there being many staff walking around. When I asked politely for more cheese I was refused it. Not being funny, but I expected more than an easy single!! Pickled gherkin and a slab of a sad grey tomato looked so unappealing. Sorry folks, but we won't be returning for the Burger but perhaps for the AC on a hot day....

Lovely food although the service could have been better. we waited almost half an hour for a drink we ordered and then had to order again as it hadn't been done. Also ordered two starters and only received one, only one was on the bill too so think maybe orders should be read back to tables perhaps. Other than that a lovely little place and would happily eat here again.
