Dont bother! Dated, dangerous and rude. We called ahead and were told we could all eat outside. When we arrived two of the adults nearly slipped over on the incredibly slippery decking which was rotting and uneven, there was a tiny sign on the door advising of the slippery decking but you had to walk across the decking to see it. We ordered and paid inside and were told everything would be bought out to us. The waitress slipped on the decking and threw a pint of cola over my friend and his 6 month old baby. Towels were bought out and the young waitress was very apologetic but no compensation offered. Within minutes we were surrounded by wasps and asked if we could be seated on one of the many free tables inside to finish our food. The manager was very rude and said they dont normally allow food outside, but we had already called ahead and were told we could so not sure what the actual policy is?! The childrens menu was very basic, nuggets and chips, sausage and chips etc, the carvery was greasy and all the veg overcooked and bland. The whole place was very dated and unloved with facilities out of order. Obviously the place has been closed for some time due to COVID, that time could have been used to give the place a lick of paint, jet wash the decking and fix all the broken areas. All in all just a poorly managed establishment.

We didn't book in advance but I would recommend as they have a smaller kitchen staff than normal. We did wait a while for our food but we were told this was the case. Good food at a reasonable price. Limited menu due to covid. Lisa was our waitress and despite a manic environment was polite, emailing and helpful. Not the first time we've been and we will definitely go again.
Great place. Food is way better then how this place look. So if you are for food - recommend!
We have visited the Northgate twice in the past 2 weeks. Wonderful meals both times. Served hot with a good helping. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Covid measures being used, staff wearing masks or visors, hand gel available on entrance to the restaurant and the toilets. Have booked again next week.
