Just had a three night stay at revamped New Inn. Owners have spent a lot of money and not cut any corners. Very welcoming and food and range of ales is superb. The New Inn has always lived in the shadow of the Craven Arms but is now set to give it serious competition.

Prefer this over the Craven Arms as there's no pretension. Nice selection of beers and food is lovely & home made.
I decided to ignore the poor reviews because there were so many good ones, and was glad I did! Cosy, warm, friendly, comfortable bed, clean, brill location ....... what's not to like?! As for the form you have to complete, just ask what it is all about ...... I ended up with over 15 worth of points for the next visit ..... again, why wouldn't you!
Very expensive for the most basic food. 15 for a cheese toastie, “giant” sausage roll and chips. I was expecting something special for that, maybe a lovely chunky sourdough toastie, a homemade sausage roll but the food was as basic as it could be, plain white toast bread, some mass produced sausage roll and greasy soggy chips. Don’t know if this is the Covid effect but these guys need to lift their game if they’re going to survive with some great pubs nearby
Stayed recently, Landlord and Lady were great, very friendly and accommodating. The food and beer was out of this world, especially the roast beef Sunday lunch and my roast standards are extremely high! The room was warm and the bed very comfortable, nice walks straight out the door, highly recommend.
