I rarely write any reviews, however I felt pushed to write this because of the awful atmosphere I'd experienced along with the very poor service. Now I've used this place several times and only on one occasion I had a bad experience I hasten to add. We all have different experiences which of course are all subjective so I will put this in an objective as possible way; August 2020, I entered the Moorings, there were several customers in there, approx' 6 other people to be more precise. I walked up to the counter, there were 2 members of staff behind the counter with their backs to me, one was making a coffee and the other one was tending to some other order, at this point they both saw me but there was NO ''Hi, just a minute'' no acknowledgement of me being there whatsoever, however the one member of staff thinking that I couldn't hear her alerted her colleague to me and said ''do you want to take this one'' ? I didn't hear the reply, but STILL I was not acknowledged, I stood at the counter for about minute or so and felt utterly 'cold shouldered' it seemed my custom was not so welcome after all. We of course all have 'off' days, but this is the service industry, so no matter what sort of day you are having, you step up and do what you are supposed to do in a professional manner or make your excuses and take the day off. I myself have worked in this industry and to me if I was managing the Moorings, this would never happen. It's probably not going to affect the ratings too much and I wish them all the best just so long as they can improve on customer service, which is evidently mostly very good but not always. MJ
Nice little spot for brunch or lunch. Staff are super friendly with great service to match. Menu has a good range and they also have a kids menu. Dog friendly venue too! Toasties are worth a mention
Called in for breakfast and to get out of the wind and rain! Very relaxing, lovely decor, and welcoming staff. Sandwiches were excellent with local produce and artisan granary bread. Seriously considering another visit for the cakes and possibly an evening meal too.
Had an absolutely lovely meal here last night. The food and service were first class. And the wine was good as well. would definitely come back again.
