Recently went into the shop to have a look at having a go at starting to build model planes, I have to say the prices are very reasonable and the owner is knowledgeable to say the least. He gave advice on the best plane to start off with and I loved building it. He gave advice on using glue specifically for models which was lucky as I would have used super glue which he informed me would have been a bad idea. I bought a second plane to build after I finished my first one and wanted to have a go at painting it this time, online it would have cost 80 or so to buy all the paint to do it however I managed to get all the colours I needed for 27 which is very reasonable compared to other places. I am continuing to build models and this is definitely going to be my go to place for tools, resources and advise as the owner is very friendly and very knowledgeable.

Having used The Model Shop for many years, I have always found the shop to be most friendly and helpful. The move from the upper floor of the Octagon was an enforced necessity, and whilst it does have the advantage of more passing trade, it is a smaller and more intimate environment in which to shop. I can understand the reason for signage as described, given the proximity of displays, and the temptation for little hands, (and bigger ones also !!) to take items from display. In fact, it is only a common courtesy to ask before touching, and do not see the signs as any big deal - evidenced by the number of regular and returning customers the outlet enjoys.
Very small shop but has a huge range of stock, staff very friendly and helpful. Such a shame went past the model shop on 15th September and it had a closing down sale notice up at the window.

Excellent little model shop. Very friendly proprietors and a good selection at very fair prices, especially for a brick and mortar shop!
