The Mermaid Traditional Fish & Chips

When you can actually get served, the fish and chips is good, but the business model/customer service is terrible. Followed the requested “click and collect” model and called up at 6:45pm on a Saturday night, to be told that it’s not possible to do fish and chips before they close at 7:30pm, despite it saying 8:30pm on numerous sites. How can you not prepare fish and chips in 45 minutes? Collection is outside, so no logical reason regarding collection. Otherwise, it’s insane that a fish and chip shop closes at 7:30pm on a Saturday. All in all, awful way to treat your customers and to run a business profitably.

Very disappointing...fish was very thin, batter was grey and not crispy and the chips were pale. A disappointing Friday night supper for the 5 us :(

Lovely fish and chips. So fresh. Popularity shows quality. Yes 25 minute wait, bit well worth it. Would have fish and chips from here every day if I could.

This eatery serves lovely traditional food. Everything tastes home made. The only down side is that it has no Pukka pies during the winter weeks.
