What a great place. The food was amazing and the service outstanding. They do kind of Indian fusion, not too spicy but extremely tasty food. The Quail starter was awesome , so much flavour expertly made. The main was lamb shank and with fantastic sauce and perfectly cooked. Finished by Chai Brulee - what! Yes served in metal martini glass so an abundance of crispy topping and subtle chai creme. This place knows how to treat its guests and food is so well made. Oh and did I mention the Laccha Paratha? OMG the most fantastic paratha I have ever tasted in a restaurant. Would love to visit again and thanks to Simon who served us and to be honest I feel guilty as I should have left a much bigger tip! Seriously worth a visit. Thank you Mahal!.

One of the best meals I've had in Cheltenham, combined with excellent, attentive service. In a completely different league in comparison to it's predecessor the Spice Lodge. Highly recommended.

Great experience, great service and even better food. Couldn't have chose a better restaurant to bring us back out of lockdown. Exceeded our expectations, every single member of staff were friendly.... THE ONLY ISSUE, is that card payment tips do not reach the service staff. We wanted to tip but did not have cash.

A lovely ambience in this high-celling elegant restaurant with stylish furnishings. Beautiful meal with family, all had different starters and mains. Lovely flavours, very fresh and well presented. The staff were attentive, polite and very accommodating regarding my nut allergy. I would recommend visiting here for a fine dining experience which isn’t overpriced.

Amazing food, impeccable hospitality and a perfect anniversary We couldn't have asked for a better customer experience or culinary treat. It was quite a special date anyway as we were on our first child-free getaway for five years! Firstly, the food at the Mahal was amazing. Just the sauce in our curries was good enough for a meal in itself, so moreish and aromatic! There was a sense that the food was really made with love - a lot of curry houses use generic kind of sauces but both our dishes were so different - a butter chicken and a paneer main. Although we didn't drink wine, the sommelier seemed highly knowledgeable and the waiter was really friendly. The owner Momin was a lovely guy and personally came to our table to talk about the meal and check we were happy. To top it off they offered us a free cocktail and a dessert decorated with 'happy anniversary', both on the house. In times like this where hospitality can be precarious, it's lovely to find places like this that really care about the food and experience. Thank you Momin and all your staff - it was the perfect night and made our anniversary truly memorable!
