We went along today in high winds and sat outside. The staff were lovely, showing us to our table and chatting too. We had toasties and a cream tea which were delicious. Sitting there looking at the Heybridge waterways, even in cold windy weather was really enjoyable and relaxing. They were very good with all the Covid rules too. Highly recommended.

Always have great food here! Was served by Olivia who was brilliant! Lush food and service! Definitely recommend the cream tea! Tables very spaced out and seating outside! Great socially distancing too! Can't wait to come back!
Beautiful setting and the waiting staff a delight. I had a fresh crab sandwich which came with salad crisps and coleslaw. At 8.50 it was frankly disappointing. Just lacklustre. No dressing for salad offered and bread could have been fresher. However on the plus side. It's spotless and covid precautions taken seriously. Be prepared to wait for a table.
Over the years we have been here quite a few times - after walks and runs. Perfectly situated with lovely views across Heybridge Basin. Hence very popular! Obviously Covid-19 has affected things but 'The Lock Tea Room' have adapted and are well-organised. Friendly/helpful staff, and an easy NHS Track and Trace phone scan. My wife had a delicious homemade vegetable soup. I only fancied a bacon sandwich today with a lovely pot of tea. Service was very good, and we will keep returning.
One of the tiptree tea room chain. Usual tea room fare, with added bonus of outside tables overlooking the river. Staff friendlier than some of the other branches.
