Wow! Where do I start, from the warm welcome we receive on arrival to the time we left. The bar is a wonderful memorial to those who have passed. From floor to ceiling it is covered in memorabilia from WW11, there is over 7000 poppies and Rememberance crosses. This is one place you should visit as it's hard to describe. Well done to Julie Cooper the bars owner, can't wait till visit again. 100 out of 100. Brilliant. Just a few pictures of it.
You must go here ! Julie Cooper (Julia) is a legend in her own lifetime! The Don Bar has won Awards for its services to the community and has been named Best Pub in England. That's not all either. Julie has created an amazing place inside the Don, called The War Memorial Museum, and they look after War Vets and the elderly as well as taking in vulnerable people (some considering suicude) and Julie and her team, put their arms around them, give them a free cooked meal, a drink, and then they get to chat with Veterans and start to feel a little more human again, getting the much needed love and attention that is needed, but not provided by The System and the care sector or the NHS .
