Gorgeous family run country-side pub - gorgeously placed amid farmlands and woods. Sitting outside is a treat. The restaurant's food is top draw, beers and ales delicious and the staff friendly. Worth going out of the way for, but I would book a table.

We have been to the John Barleycorn pub at least five times for food and it’s one of our favourite gastro pubs. Service is always exceptional and portions / quality of food is great. Last night when we visited, I think her name was Lucy and she was brilliant. We’ve really enjoyed everything we’ve ever eaten there. The triple cooked chips and onions rings are The postcode online doesn’t take you to the right place as we learnt by driving up and down the rural roads. Depending on which way your coming but when our say nav says were near, do a right instead of a left like it says, and the pub is on your left. Price isn’t bad and we can eat 3 courses for about 70. I just wish they had a chocolate brownie on the menu. Tables were nicely spaced before COVID but I felt a safe distance away from everyone, they had hand sanitiser available and they were also taking part in the track and trace. Not sure if this was a coincidence but I liked the doors were kept open so we didn’t have to touch them. Only negative I have to say is that the last time we came, one of the waiters put our cutlery straight on the table rather than on a napkin. Overall, we love it here.

After lockdown this was our first night out. The outdoor marquee was very comfortable and excellent heating. I had the rustic bread and breaded mushrooms as starters ( absolutely delicious) my friend had the prawns and the other friend also had the bread plus added the olives. For main we ordered the steak, turkey and I had the pork belly. OMG it was the BEST pork belly I’ve ever had! The staff was attentive. The food was amazing. It was so good I will be back again shortly. I cannot recommend this place highly enough! What an amazing way to end lockdown

We had a wake at The John Barleycorn recently. Thanks to Pauline and staff the afternoon went very well despite the Covid restrictions. All of the staff made us feel well looked after on what was a sad occasion. I would definately recommend the John Barleycorn and would like to thank Pauline and staff they went out of their way to help us. The finger buffet was exceptional.

Went here today for a Sunday roast. I have to say it is probably the best roast I have even eaten. We all had Maltesers cheesecake for afters which was fabulous. Over all lovely dining experience. Cozy, rustic dining area, friendly helpful staff and food to die for. Would highly recommend.
