I specifically booked the Grill at the Dorchester to have the apple tart tartine. We went there for dessert only. Well what can I say firstly the staff were warm and friendly and so so hospitable. The dessert was sublime and I liked the fact that the waiting staff asked for confirmation whether we would like our hot beverages served at the same time as our dessert. It's very rare that I find dining experiences truly memorable because what is sadly lacking in London is the service BUT the staff at the Grill were amazing and so was this particular dessert. I will have to now visit again for either lunch or dinner.
The atmosphere and the food were excellent. The restaurant is really well laid out . The welcome and the table service probably deserve a much higher rating to be quite honest. The food is nothing short of excellent. However the reason I have stopped short of giving 5* is that a 12.5% service charge was added to the meal which I think was more than deserved , however the waiter then asked if I would like to give an additional gratuity. To be honest I thought this was quite rude. Happy to pay a service charge, being called out in infront of my guests for an additional gratuity is bad form .
Well worth the money, a fantastic indulgent retreat. I didn't need to have an evening meal after this as I was so full. A great experience.
Amazing service and lovely food! The vegan menu is delicious. Kudos to the chef. Really enjoyed it. And the sommelier Eugenio is the best.
