Shut at the moment, due to Covid, but when they opened last time, they've got everything in place. Hand gel and screens and separated tables. Signs on the ones not to use. Pleasant staff too. Good choice of food, and quick service.

I am sorry to say it was the worst fish and chips we ever had in our lives. My husband I made a trip to beautiful city of Dorchester, by late afternoon we were starving and were looking for a traditional fish and chips. Saw the sign on The Gorge advertising home made tradition food. We ordered the food and were shocked when the food arrived. The fish were ready made frozen, out of packet, the frozen peas were shrivelled, the chips were ok. We were Very disappointed but forced it down because we were very hungry. Unfortunately later on we suffered as our stomach couldn’t digest the food. Totally waste of money.
I always go to The Gorge for lunch if I’m in Dorchester. You get a generous size portion for great value for money. It’s a comfortable, good value for money cafe, not The Ritz. If you’re expecting fresh-line caught fish not frozen and burgers that are not frozen, get real - it’s a cafe. If you want that kind of thing, go to a high-end restaurant. Yes it is small so you can hear the manager occasionally directing her staff because she runs a tight ship. Clean, friendly staff and the steak pie is just yum. Always come here always will. Great atmosphere. Uncertain what to say to improve on.
Forgot to ask for no beans with children's meal. Lady serving could see he was uncomfortable and made a fresh meal which was really appreciated. Thank you for your consideration, little things go along way.
