I’ve been going to the Elm Tree for a good year or so, without issue. I’d heard rumours that the landlady was a bit Jekyll and Hyde but had never seen it myself. There were two incidents. First one I went to the pub with my little boy (9) and a few friends. Before we went into the pub I left my little one with a friend as I had forgotten my wallet at home. I returned 5 minutes later and the landlady approached me saying my son was running round the car park. My friend said they were sat in the car the whole time! We then went in for a drink, my little one got up to go the the toilet and the landlady started screaming something about him being at the bar! Left after that drink. I then went myself yesterday for a quiet pint as I had a few calls to make. Literally sat in the corner on my phone having a pint with one other person in the pub, who was chatting away to the landlady. The landlady came up to me to have a pop about the level of noise...I was literally having a conversation and I’m not a loud person! I put down the phone and asked the landlady if I could have a word with her and she said “no, get out, you’re barred!”...for a phone call!! Had no idea I’d entered a library. Admittedly I didn’t take it well and voiced my thoughts. Silly really, it’s a decent pub with reasonable food. Just a pity the landlady is an absolute nut job!!! Having looked at some of the reviews it’s a fairly common occurrence. Why she wants to alienate regular customers is beyond me.

Amazing food, great value for money with a warm friendly welcome. I had the sea food medley which was delicious.
The landlady has gone through every effort to make this place safe in times of Covid. The food is excellent served hot on hot plates. Service by her staff are all attentive and on the ball. A pleasant and welcoming experience. Thank you
Nice atmosphere. Steak night is fantastic value - very good quality of steak too, cooked superbly. Staff friendly - worth a visit.
