Excellent meal and friendly staff who couldn't do enough for each and every customer. Starter: The pattie was an excellent starter which was a mutton and as accompanied by colslaw. The food was well presented and had a nice authentic flavour which reminded me of childhood past. An excellent starter. The main meal was also excellent both my partner and I will be visiting this location again in the future.

This restaurant has been open for almost 4 weeks only. The food was tasty and full of flavour. As with all new places they are in a test and learn process and the attitude of the place is spot on. The food tastes great. I found the idea of a soft launch a good one, as it allows them to listen to feedback see what's working well. I loved the flavour of the Jerk Chicken, big portion of Chicken which was very filling. I sampled the Sweet Potato curry and I sear it was one of the nicest tasting dishes I have had in a long time.

We went for the second time tonight and though we love the food we won't return. The cost of a meal was 56.00 for just 2 people with no booze. It is 12 for a main course and an additional 7 for 2 sides which makes a full meal (so 40 just for your mains). It is a nice place and we would have eaten there often but it is high London prices in Hitchin and it just wasn't worth nearly 60 for a mid week meal for 2, with no booze. The kids working at the bar consistently popping their iPod in and out of the stereo did little for the ambience. They are nice people and a nice vibe but too pricey.
An excellently cooked meal....fantastic service. Went home full after a great meal. I highly recommend the Duchy Pot if you are in Hitchin. Well done John and the team....Brilliant! !
