Four of us plus 2 dogs met at The Dog for lunch. Our friends drove 2 hrs from the south, and we drove 2 hrs from the north to have lunch halfway. I did a Google search for a 'dog friendly country pub'. We weren't disappointed. All Covid rules applied with one-way system. Staff attentive and made us feel very welcome, including the dogs. Food was excellent. A lovely pub with character. 5 star.

Boring coronavirus bit: Very reassuring; wait to be seated and hand sanitiser at the door with a one-way system. The location and views are stunning, pub nice and clean and the staff friendly and at least outwardly clean! Excellent menu and one of the best fillet steaks I've ever had. I was driving so can't comment on the booze selection:( Plenty of tables outside and in.
Really great bar meals. The Bass beer is as good as it is in Burton on Trent where it is brewed. The staff are friendly and efficient. What more can you ask for?
Gorgeous location where you can sit and view for miles and miles. The restaurant part is really nice and the food is freshly made from a small select menu. Then the pub part is much more rustic where dogs are welcome. Great pub.
