Friendly and spacious, currently still offering Eat Out 2 help out, so a real bargain. You may need to book. I had excellent lamb, my partners burger was good. Great starters and lemon posset. Freshly and imaginatively cooked.

I must admit I wasn't hopeful when first greeted by one of the female servers there, it felt a little cold to be honest. Upon entering however, I was met my a gentleman, late 20's, early 30's? And wow! The kind of old school service you would expect from a very high end restaurant or bistro. Very attentive, knowledgeable and hilarious! He got the balance between giving us our space whilst providing faultless service. Spot on! I will be coming back, and would definitely recommend the Den to others. Give the man a pay rise! An absolute credit to your business!
We must have caught them in a bad week! They have generously extended the 10 discount scheme Monday to Wednesday, so were very busy. Friendly service from a host of young people bustling to please, and learned about Albert Heijn's connection to the area. The Swan on the Wye pale ale turned out to be a bitter - perfectly drinkable but not as advertised. I ordered the burger without the bread, himself the steak, and we decided to share fishcakes as a starter. Said fishcakes had no discernible fish content or flavour. The burger arrived without the bread, nor any of the other garnishes advertised. Garnishes were summoned, and I discovered a shred of plastic in the melted cheese. He wasn't offered a steak knife, but truth to tell a chainsaw might have been more use on the tough and flavourless piece of beef he received. They really need to source better quality meat - should be easy in Hereford! I decided to use the accessible loo before leaving, but was told it was occupied. After waiting about 10 minutes standing on one leg, one of the staff tested the door and found it was empty, just with the indicator on red. Seems it is a through-way for access to the cupboard (?) at the back. Plastic sliver was pronounced a shred of packaging, but I wouldn't have found it if I had ordered the burger with bread. We were given a discount voucher for our next visit, so naturally had to go back. Thursday was quieter, and we checked whether the pale ale was actually available. Again it turned out to be the bitter. We ordered a different starter, the pork and chilli linguini had \just run out\ (in a near-empty restaurant) so I ordered the cod and himself opted for the chicken. After a long wait, the mains arrived so we cancelled the starter. That was the thinnest piece of cod I have ever had, and didn't flake in the usual way, the the greens were stringy but the hollandaise sauce was nice. He enjoyed the chicken. Couldn't face the excitement of trying for dessert...
Brilliant food and drinks, and all the staff are amazing.
Thoroughly enjoyed it. First experience of the Den and we will be back. Still running the 10 off which made it more enjoyable.
