Please read the entire review for a detailed experience... 4.12.20 Me and my good friend (support bubble) are pleased to be back again after four weeks of lockdown part 2... THE only place in the city that could accommodate us at this time when other places are closed. And, we were welcomed again by Kat with exceptional service, a friendly welcome and made the place amazing with the Christmas decorations. October 2020. Recently visited this place five times and confident with the Covid guidelines, hand sanitisers, cleanliness for peace of mind. A general view....prior to the Coronavirus situation: I am more than happy to give this place a five star review and don’t have a single bad word to say about this place...Kat is amazing! So hard working and a credit to the place! I have recently in September sampled three fantastic food dishes. The burger, the lamb shanks and the 10oz sirloin steak. All of which are simply amazing. I have had steaks in the USA and this is on a level par with the best that Longhorns or Red Lobster can provide. I don’t say that likely I mean it. The Sunday roast has won an award from Southampton Echo! Inside is decoratively refreshed and ready for customers in a exceptionally clean and tidy environment. Always a good variety of beers and spirits- particularly the rums and whiskey. There are bar stools, tables and variety of chairs. A small but functional rear beer patio with parasols. Staff are chatty, provide a good service, atmosphere and a friendly welcome...especially, Kat. Sadly, at the moment (2021) live music is not being played as other reviewers suggest

Went in with my family last night to eat. While this isn't the traditional \family pub\ in terms of kids menu's etc they catered to us really well. The seating was lovely, the food was amazing, the chef came out to check specifically what the children would like and there was great real ale for the grown ups. Kat, the bar manager was lovely and provided a very attentive table service (including lollipops for the kids at the end of the meal). Five stars from us. We would definitely go again.

Traditional pub, serving great food and a great selection of drinks. Staff are really friendly and always make me feel welcome. Also have cosy outside areas if you want to meet others.

Quality pub located in a great for drinks and eating. Prices are very good and the food menu is decent. It's a good place to watch the sport, have a nice meal and a pint. It's got a traditional pub decor. Service is friendly as well. The pub is about a 10 minute walk from the train station.
