The newly refurbed Castle is a winner. The same old Castle feel with friendly staff and customers and a great classic pub vibe in the heart of the city. They now have a great selection of craft beers (including draft Gluten Free choices!) and an updated menu serving wonderful pizza. A big bonus is the beer garden with views of Nottingham Castle. They also do a beer and food takeaway service which is a bonus! They are taking the Covid restriction seriously too with good hygiene and safety precautions in place.

A nice place with a more refined and mature clientele, until our rowdy group arrived! We're not exactly teens, more like thirty and forty somethings, but we were younguns in comparison. They served a really tasty spiced rum and coke, which was a nice surprise. Signage could do with a bit of work, but lovely place.
Team seem helpful. Food simple tasty but far overpriced. Drinks 4 for a 330ml bottle is more expensive than a nightclub. Though overhearing that a customer who did not get served as he only had cash. The apparent manager to her colleague once he had gone \ ...should get the with modern times\, and \...go elsewhere.\ :-(
Ventured into the city centre for the first time since March to meet a friend for natter, cold drinks & snacks. Was served by Jess, Assistant Manager & she could not have been more pleasant & helpful. I felt reassured & cared about. Staff here bend over backwards & the food is really nice too. It’s much more pleasantly located too than right in the ‘centre’ - I feel the square looks very shabby & attracts the wrong kind of crowd. Whereas here up by the Castle is very peaceful & pretty. Will definitely be returning!
I enjoyed the pub being back open. This place is in prime position for sitting in the afternoon sun opposite the Castle. I really do enjoy sitting out front. Pre lockdown this pace had some good music on too. However, I understand that local drinks venues need to recover post lock down and I support this and will accept price hikes to some extent... but 4.5 to I think 4.9 for pints of ale is a little steep. London prices.
