Looked like a great countryside pub with great reviews. Saw steak and ale pie on the menu was excited about it. What better than a traditional pie with a pint of ale in an English countryside pub. What I however got was a deconstruction pot pie i.e. stew in a pot with a crust lid! If it's gonna be a deconstructed pie, then please say so on the menu. I personally felt, selling this as a steak and ale pie was an insult to the pubs who actually make an effort to bake traditional and actual pies. Stew was average. They are lucky have a great location and could definitely do better in serving better food. Perhaps they get the footfall anyway and there is not much motivation to do better.

Stunning location, fabulous staff and of course excellent food. Loved the pea gazpacho! And my rabbit on that lovely plate! Took the boat out for 30 mins.
Two very nice evening meals and an excellent full English breakfast. I really enjoyed the friendliness and professionalism of this bar / restaurant. I look forward to returning again next year.
This is such a lovely setting for a pub just next to the Grand canal in Stoke Bruerne. The service was really great and portions are quite big as well. The village setting is amazing and if you go for a stroll after your meal you can see some amazing cottages. Oposite the pub is canal museum and there is outside picnic area as well It is only 15 min drive from Silverstone so great stop if you are going to see a race or for the Silverstone experience
We stopped here while on a canal boat holiday,. A pretty pub near a lock on our journey. The staff here were lovely and friendly, we were able to buy some much needed provision. A big thank you for finding us brown sauce and much needed cream.
