We had a fantastic evening here. The atmosphere in the pub was great, the music was good, the locals were all very friendly, they decorated the pub with fairy lights. It's clear they try hard to keep customers happy. The food was also good. I had the chicken breast burger, my partner the scampi, the kids burgers and chips and Sausages with chips. The menu was all pretty standard pub grub, but it was very tasty! I'd definitely go back if we were in the area again.

We chances upon this absolute gem after leaving the seal sanctuary and how glad we are. Parking is slightly hidden past the pub to the right just off a residential street so don’t assume there isn’t any. We arrived and were greeted by perhaps the friendliest staff I’ve encountered in a pub and some very friendly locals too. Plenty of beer choice, naturally lots of Cornish options and a great menu. Atmosphere was fantastic with a mix of locals and visitors and it never felt as though we were unwelcome. Dogs are welcomed in the pub which just added to the atmosphere and made it feel very homely. The food was excellent, the cod batter and chips barely left any oil on the plate and tasted amazing. The crab salad was enormous and tasty! We can’t recommend the Black Swan enough and wish it was our local!
We accidentally got to the pub 5 minutes before open and the lovely employees let us in from the cold, seated us, and immediately gave us menus. So kind! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was wonderful. My only complaint was the building was a bit chilly, but nothing keeping my coat on didnt solve.
Visited this pub after the Seal sanctuary on a Thursday lunch time. I think they stop serving food at 14:30. Ample room, with plenty of seating outside. No parking, so find somewhere on the roads around the village. There is WiFi available. The food was reasonably priced for the size of the portion, which I would consider large and was good in quality and taste. I wouldn’t hesitate to stop here again.
Visited here Dec 11th 2020. We enjoyed a really delicious lunch. Pub nicely decorated 4 Xmas. Very clean & Covid precautions taken 4 customer/Staff safety. Staff very helpful & friendly. Would recommend.
