We are in Kirkcudbright for a two day break in our motor home, pitched on the Silver Craig campsite. We are here around once every couple on months. We always venture into the town, and take in the nice wee restaurants at lunchtime. However at this time of year, plus the covid restrictions make it an uninspiring visit, with most shops shut or are only open certain days and shorter hours. On our way back to the campsite we noticed the Belfry cafe open, so we decided to give it a try. The entry system was very good and the soup and bread was served promptly by a pleasant young man. We have no moans or gripes on our visit to this cafe. Not bad at all.

Did not feel safe! Visited on a very wet day and although escaping the rain was welcome the packed cafe was not. If the tables were 2m (or even 1m apart) I would be very surprised. We had to squeeze past people to get out. We were sitting next to a stack of lovely homebaked scones but they were uncovered and we were literally within sneezing distance of them.
Food ok ,staff good very friendly, would recommend if your after food ,prices average ,clean area,
Lovely friendly staff. Very clean and following all the covid rules. Great coffee and a delicious lunch . Would highly recommend
The salad was very fresh. Good panini. Update: I visited again just before Christmas (Dec 2018) and it's still very good. The new owner has refurbished the bathroom. The food and coffee are excellent. The fruit scones are still great.
