Well established village pub on the boundary of the cricket pitch. Indeed there are warnings about watching out for balls if you choose to sit in the front and watch the match. We arrived about 12.15 on a sunny Saturday in late September and had no trouble getting a table but by the time we left at about 2 it was fairly busy. Local ales and an interesting menu including home baked pizza in the garden pizza oven. The pizzas were very popular but we opted for the Barley Mow Munch (a ploughmans) which was very tasty with a good sized piece of cheese & lovely ham. Good Corona protocols in place and a very pleasant lunch stop. It was very popular with walkers and cyclists.

COVID ERA REVIEW - We had an excellent Sunday lunch in the Barley Mow. Before i start saying why we loved the place, the one downside was that it was really busy. I didn't take off a star from my review because we were warned when we booked that it would be really busy if the weather was nice. Soooooo. key points. Its a beautiful pub that looks out across the village Cricket Green. It is totally dog friendly as well, which is a must for us. They have outfitted the garden with a large Marquis, which has a huge number of tables under it, which are all at 1-2 Metres distance. They have also set up a one way system for ordering food so that we can all keep our distance. As i said on a Sunny Sunday afternoon the Pub was very busy, but they've worked hard to keep us safe. That brings me to the food. We loved it. Its typical (but quality) pub food. Examples of what made it stand out were that the bread with my Ploughmans was still hot when it arrived or that my daughter ordered a Brie and Bacon baguette and that arrived with the Brie still melted, even though though must've had 40 tables in at the time. We'll be back.

Best pie I've ever had at a pub. Beautifully made crust and amazing filling. We sat in the garden next to the river. Such a lovely setting. One way system and covid related adjustments have been well thought out. They encourage you to wear a mask while ordering at the bar. It made me feel like they truly care about the safety of their staff and customers. Will certainly be back.

Nice village pub with heated outdoor seating and good food for a reasonable price.

You couldn't ask for a more idyllic location for a village pub, than one that overlooks the village green. My experience here was ok. I ordered from their pizza menu which actually comes from an adjacent pizzeria. The pizza was a bit floppy, but ok. My friend ordered the dish and chips which took a full 30 minute to come. In addition two of their three ales had gone sour. I appreciate that times are very difficult for pubs at present so I'm being kind with the stars, but I feel this place could do better.
