Staff were really pleasant and attentive, and service was quick. Their selection of coffee, tea, and cake is great and this is all I wanted then maybe it would be better. The outside of The Anvil gives you an impression of an old world pub full of character, however the inside is tired, dreary and depressing. The decor targets the old world with interest but never hits the mark, and though some of their regular clientele may have been a keystone of income, I do not want to see their funeral leaflets adorning the bookshelves. The food my wife and I had was disappointing at best and given 8 for a 2 egg omelette, borders on offensive for the lack of quality.

Came across The Anvil as we wandered around Bishops Waltham. Beautiful building, charming staff. Lovely tea and coffee & the best cakes!
Had coffee and cake here. Great selection of cafetière coffee and the cakes were really good. Lovely building and great staff.
Had some very morish Welsh Rarebit washed down with one their many single bean coffee varieties, throughly enjoyed it, Thank you
Magnificent Chocolate Orange cake to follow a lovely Bacon Sandwich!
