A lovely pub with a seating area outside you could also sit on the wall opposite as well which is nice. They have a good selection of drinks as well as a few ales to choose from too. I have not eaten here yet as this is a place that we stop of at for a drink on our way home from vacation. The food is a little pricey but looks good and have been told it is good especially the fresh seafood selection. It is usually easy to find a place to sit though at time of writing we are in the lair of coronavirus so seats may become a little difficult. I would ring and see if you can book a table. It sits beside the estuary and rail track so the view is nice too. Popular with cyclists. Dog friendly outside for sure. Visited again a few weeks later and again it was busy outside I ate scampi and chips they were good but would have expected a few more pieces of scampi. Took parents a month later and they loved the food and pub. The speciality is clearly the fish/shell fish dishes. They look amazing for sure A really good place to visit
Super-special shellfish dishes. eg. mussels - from the sour and sharp \Mussels West Country\ in a cider and cheese sauce to the sweetish richness of the \Mussels Normandy\ in cream and bacon sauce. Worth repeated visits to explore variants on favourite types of dishes. Beers totally excellent - compliment a meal or worth stopping off for a quick drink when passing. Other meals on menu apart from shellfish - equally good - tried samples - excellent. Pub has nautical theme and is by the anchorage at Cockwood, on the Exe estuary. Staff helpful and place to be recommended.
Had a table outside. Wasnt too clear when entering what the instructions were to be able to order etc. One young waitress didn't seem to have a clue what was happening, but the guy at the bar was more than helpful and explained everything. We ordered, viewing the menu via the QR code. Brilliant idea. Food was ordered and arrived in good time. Big plateful, and was lovely and hot. Lots of people eating. Thank you chef. Overall a really positive experience and enjoyed the visit.
Fantastic place. Just a bit pricey, but having said that the food and service is 1st class. You pay for what you get and what you get it is a beautiful pub in a beautiful area with a beautiful service.
