Stichting Burnout Reviews | Rating 3 out of 5 stars (5 reviews)

Stichting Burnout is rated 3 out of 5 in the category health. Read and write reviews about Stichting Burnout. Stichting Burnout is a 2006 founded organisation for burnout recovery, burnout research and burnout intereset representation. Working with appr. 20 psychologists in the Netherlands, who are specialized in burnout. Stichting Burnout is totally aligned with science (as visible on http://scholar.google.com) but at the same time investigates and (hopefully) solves all practical problems and (mal)incentives that are attached to burnout in the Netherlands. Stichting Burnout has an openly available burnout recovery program that is being adjusted annually. Burnout is seen as 'ecological dysfunction' (James Carroll 1979) and follow main line of Freudenberger, Maslach, Leiter, Bernier etc. Areas of special interest are the 'rooting' of burnout in job stressor theory, and the physiological effects accompanying burnout - as changes in the immune system. Psychologically stressing situations trigger the same kind of 'alarmins' as 'somatic' tissue stress. A specific illustration is the interference of alarmins with IR, Insuline Receptors, that decrease the uptake of pyruvate from blood - decreasing internal cel metabolism. As known, psychology and emotions are partly 'alien' to phsycians; the more is 'burnout', whose understanding requires very refined emotional as intellectual antennae. It is psychologically as well as biologically (cellullar level) more complex than 'a broken leg'. Because burnout is probably the most environmentally engaged disease, not truthfully observable outside its habitat (and thus not reductionable to 'in-clinic-setting') the economical and legal 'blaming game' is important, at least in the Netherlands. A person leaving the company ill, is very costly to the organisation where the employee left. Bezava, as the regulation is called, can cost an employer up to 20000 to 800,000 euro for a single employee. With such amounts, almost no HR people and physicians remain 'integer'. Stichting Burnout strives to be compass of truth.
