The staff are polite and friendly and seem to enjoy working here. However. one of the younger security guards is always rude, looks grumpy and is not very discrete when following people. It is somewhat like being stalked in a creepy way as well as slightly insulting for honest customers. I put an item back on the shelf the other day and as I was leaving was asked to empty my pockets, not verbally but with rather rude hand gestures, not even making eye contact with me. I surrendered my coat and showed that my pockets where empty and all I got was 'I am not touching that', after which he turned away without saying anything and pretended like I did not exist. Very dehumanizing and humiliating experience. Should probably hire proper security staff that know what they are doing and have a tiny bit of customer service experience. The other 2-3 guards they hire are always happy, smiling, greet customers well and know how to communicate properly. This one I encountered was rude, arrogant and didn't seem to care about the innocent until proven guilty principle and dismissed the whole situation when he realized he had made a mistake without even apologizing.

Good size supermarket chain in Torquay. Lots of merchandises.
Not a very affective covid system, 5-6 self check outs and a gap between them that has not been adapted to fit the width of a pram. (Is it family friendly?) One server at the till obviously not trained on how healthy start vouchers are used. Made the customer entitled to them pay in full. Didn't attempt to ask anyone for help. Pink tatty onsie.. where's the dress code? If you can adjust things to fit around you you can certainly adjust things to meet the needs of our local families.
Currently not busy at all due to the lockdown. They will soon be using a traffic light system for customers coming into the store. Planning permission has been granted for the traffic light system but no date as yet for the install.
