The Grand Bazaar (Persian: بازار بزرگ\u200e Bāzār e Bozorg) is an old historical bazaar in Tehran, Iran. It is split into several corridors over 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) in length, each specializing in different types of goods, and has several entrances, with Sabze-Meydan being the main entrance.

Speaking of Grand Bazaars - the very first that comes to mind is Istanbul, Turkey. The Iranian version of the Grand Bazaar is by no way any lesser or leaves anything to be desired. The sheer variety of fabrics, garments, shoes, bags and every restaurants inside the Bazaar can be a dizzying experience for a first timer. Best time to visit is before 10 am and after 5 pm if one meant like crowds. But then, the essence of this historic Bazaar would be missed.

Love shopping? Love getting lost? Love chance encounters with friendly people? Love experiencing local culture and paying local prices? Tehran Grand Bazaar is the place for you. The bazaar blends old and new, modern and derelict, expensive and cheap into an experience that is purely Tehran. Enjoy the experience!

Crowded as hell but go and try it. Bazaar. Youll love it. In its dark labyrinth of alleys. Flow of life, as good as it gets.

Highest quality spices and saffron at really good prices. Beware of the fast moving human powered carts hauling goods, they stop for no one. It's a memorable bazaar experience, nothing touristy and does not feel contrived.

Grand bazaar is a must see in Tehran. The place is so big that you should consider couple of hours for visiting this place. It is an old historical bazaar which has several entrances but the main entrance is Saze-Meydan. In additions to shops, it has several mosques, guest houses, banks and restaurants. It is accessible by metro through the stations of Khayam and Khordad 15th. The area around Tehran has been settled since at least the 6th millennium BC, and while bazaar-like constructions in Iran as a whole have been dated as far back as the 4th millennium BC, Tehran's bazaar is not that old. It is hard to say exactly when the bazaar first appeared, but in the centuries after the Muslim conquest of Iran, travelers reported the growth of commerce in the area now occupied by the current bazaar. The Grand Bazaar is thus a continuation of this legacy.
