A great little, medium or a long old hike. If by both bike and walkers with room for both (most of the time). Plenty of flora and fauna to look at and then there's the planet sculptures which have information so you can take a breath and take in the facts. There's a lovely cafe at one of the locks there's toilets there and the parking is free!

Great canal walk with a unique theme
You need to read a bit to fully appreciate this. It gives s real sense of scale to our little solar system. It's also possible to walk at 3 times the speed of light!
Have walked this stretch in both directions, but mainly kayaking. The tow path is in good condition and well used by walkers and cyclists. Added interest in the form of a scale model of the solar system with a huge sun and planet markers. There are some road crossings since the tow path does not go under many bridges (original cost?) From a kayaking point of view, portage points are in the main very poor!
Beautiful walk by the canal A long way to go the whole length but worth it.
