A fantastic place to eat in Douglas. We were looking for a place to eat fresh Fish, and we came across this place. Food was amazing with great choices: can totally recommend the sole and the skate wing. Service was really thoughtful and nice. And the atmosphere is great, and not too noisy

Undoubtedly a must on everyone's Douglas Restaurant list. Very cosy & super friendly staff. Music volume ideal for a conversation, but most importantly: fabulous food. Had the Manx Queenies crêpe as a starter: excellent! The main, Lobster, the small 1lb version, was actually a generous portion at a great price. Other than that, the bread they bake in the restaurant has an amazing variety and is difficult to resist! Five stars all-round!

Lobster was not fresh at all, probably the worst lobster I've tasted, tasted a bit rotten. Fish sole was okay, the only thing that was decent but it was a tiny portion. Manx Queenies was bland and tasteless. I recommend against coming here. Not sure why this place has such good reviews. Edit: the manager took the lobster off the bill. I appreciate the gesture.

So so service and meal. Overcharged us then when we brought it up they charged us for the tap water. In response to the restaurant's response below. We had reservations on Saturday, 10/5/19 at 5 pm, if I remember correctly, under the name of Sharon or Delores. We were offered still or sparkling water, not still sparkling or tap. We chose still, assuming that it was cost-free, which is usually the case. We would have chosen tap or asked for clarification otherwise. I went to the restroom after that and saw our waitress filling a bottle in the little white sink just outside the bathroom. At the end of our meal we noticed we were overcharged for a glass of wine and so brought that to the attention of the waitress. She took the bill back, made the adjustment, and then informed us that we had not been charged for the still water and so had added that in. We simply swallowed that and paid, but when I got the offer to make this review I brought it up, as it left a bad taste in our mouths. Also, no-one greeted us when we came in, and we waited outside in the pouring rain after arriving a few minutes early, not knowing the door was unlocked, despite the staff seeing us. Would have been great if they had waved us in at 4:55 given the storm. Little things make a difference and it colored how we felt about our experience at Tanroagan, unfortunately.
