Congregation Mekor Shalom is EVERYTHING you want a spiritual congregation to be. The members support each other. It's a great place to celebrate and to regroup. The CHAZZAN IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. You could NEVER ask for a more accepting,accessible,caring,and just plain kind spiritual leader. She will always acknowledge your presence, introduce you to others and bring you into the conversation. You will never be an outsider at Mekor Shalom

A very unique synagogue...many places say that they are unique, or are friendly and welcoming, but this place really is...the Hazzan is the most genuine, caring, compassionate person that I have ever met, and the members of this congregation are a real community of individuals who truly care about each other, and welcome new people with open arms. This is joyous, participatory Judaism, and you really feel renewed after each event...this congregation is growing quickly because what it offered here is authentic and real. If you are Jewish, and want to wake yourself up, and be renewed spiritually, inspired and accepted, then this is the place for you! You have to experience it to understand...try it out...you won’t be the same!

If you are unaffiliated in the Tampa Bay Area and looking to join the most welcoming, supportive, and encouraging synagogue family for worship, while inspiring you and your children to have a love of Judaism, look no further than Mekor Shalom. Spiritual leader Hazzan Jodi Sered-Lever is a Jewish family's dream. When my father died unexpectedly in April, she spent hours with me and my family to meet with us, prepare the most beautiful service, and officiate over a funeral that was worthy of his blessed memory. Everyone who attended said that it was the most wonderful funeral service they had ever been to. My son attended the wonderful religious school at Mekor Shalom and recently worked with Hazzan to prepare for his Bar Mitzvah. She is the most patient and wonderful Bar/Bat Mitzvah guide, both for us as parents and for my son. She knew exactly what we/he needed, was amazingly patient, but applied just the right amount of \kind\ motivation when necessary - she works with kids where they are in terms of their level of Hebrew ability, without the pressure you find in most congregations. Not only is she a magnificent cantor and spiritual leader of the synagogue, but she has become an integral part of our family. Check out Mekor Shalom, you won't be disappointed.
