Coming from Chicago we went for takeout during a short stay in NYC, decided to get a maki roll, the salmon/avocado salad and one of the omakase with complimentary miso soups. Good quality of the fish, but for 100 the portions were tiny, I guess even for this city. For two people you can easily double the order. With angry stomachs we got some pizza from Joe’s afterwards Edit after restaurant reply: 1 star for their complaint, although I still think 100 per person is way too expensive. But I get that I paid for a fancy place in NYC that wants to survive during the pandemic and buys very expensive fish.

Very cute outdoor seating, unfortunately food is underwhelming and not a good value. Taste-wise is somewhat acceptable, quality of toro was disappointing, uni was fishy and the quantity of salmon is quite skimpy for a specialty roll. And the rice is overly vinegary! 2.7 out of 5
Normally I’m not a big review person. However, the experience at Takeshi sushi made me feel like I want to. First of all, he doesn’t speak too much just as general Japanese craftsman. Still we had fun seeing him moving beautifully to make sushi. We had to leave exactly in an hour for work. He totally remembered and handled the situation even though the restaurant was pretty busy at the time. Every single sushi was fresh and authentic. Vinegar amount in the sushi rice was just perfect for me and was not too cold. A hand roll sushi with sea urchin and a scallop he provided as the last sushi was remarkable. I’m still dreaming about it. Thank you so much for the wonderful dinner. We’ll definitely come back!
If you appreciate the art of Japanese culinary skills and the quality seafood please try this restaurant. Any restaurant that serves a tuna bowl with different cuts is a gem to me. Also, they usually have uni in stock! What a mouthwatering treat!
Takeshi, the chef, thoroughly crafts each sushi with passion. Watching him turn the sushi into beautiful works of art is such a cool experience in itself. This was my first omakase experience, and I would definitely go back in a heart beat. You can tell they use the freshest of ingredients. It was hands down the best sushi I've had to date. My favorite was the uni (sea urchin), as well as the fatty tuna. It was all so delicious. I highly recommend for a quality unique dining experience.
